GPI’s KeelClip™ Scoops Two Titles in European Carton Excellence Awards
KeelClip™, a ground-breaking innovation from leading global manufacturer of paper-based packaging solutions Graphic Packaging International (‘Graphic Packaging’), has secured two awards at the prestigious Pro Carton/ECMA European Carton Excellence Awards 2020*.
KeelClip was designed to deliver an economically viable, sustainable packaging alternative to plastic shrink film and wrap for Graphic Packaging customers, notably AB InBev. The premium solution was awarded platinum status by the judges before going onto claim top spot in the public vote.
“To have our KeelClip innovation recognized in the European Carton Excellence Award program as a viable, sustainable solution to plastic rings and shrink film reflects our absolute commitment to creating a world of difference with our packaging,” said Steve Gould, New Product Development and Marketing Director – Beverage Division, Europe.
“Despite the challenges of 2020, renewable and recyclable packaging alternatives continue to be at the forefront of our customers’ sustainability agendas and we are 100 per cent in support of their goals.”
Michaela Miedl, Innovation and Technology Director, Europe at AB InBev added: “We are delighted that this forward-thinking innovation, launched in collaboration with Graphic Packaging, has been recognized at this level by Pro Carton, ECMA and the public. KeelClip is a perfect example of premium innovation that supports sustainability and improves the consumer experience, and we’re excited we’ll soon be launching it in some of our packs as part of AB InBev’s continued investment in circular packaging.”
KeelClip offers optimum flexibility and scalability for brands. Coupled with the company’s machinery systems, Graphic Packaging ensures that its total solutions meet the needs of customers – both from a sustainability perspective and line speed and efficiency requirements.
